What it does
Side by side opens a grid of one to four chat panels, each running a different AI model on the same agent. Type one question and every panel answers it with its own model, so you can compare tone, accuracy, and response style at a glance.
Replies render with full formatting (headings, lists, links, code) and stream in live, each word fading in smoothly as it arrives, the same reading experience your visitors get in the published widget. If your system settings ask for reduced motion, replies appear instantly instead.
Open it
Go to Sandbox, then click Compare two models on the same question under the Model picker.
Mirror toggle
Each panel has a Mirror switch in its header. When Mirror is on, the panel listens to the shared input at the bottom of the page and replies to whatever you type there. When Mirror is off, the panel uses its own input box, so you can ask a different question per panel.
Per-panel settings
Click the gear icon next to the model name to open per-panel settings:
- Temperature. Slide from Reserved (0) to Creative (2). Higher values make the model less deterministic.
- Behavior. Pick a preset (Customer support, Sales, etc.) or start from blank.
- Instructions. Append your own instructions on top of the behavior preset for this panel only.
Editing a panel does not touch your real agent. The one exception is Apply to current agent, in each panel's header and its ... menu: that pushes the panel's model, temperature and behavior to your live agent straight away.
Add or remove panels
Click Add model to add a panel (up to four). Click the ... menu in any panel header to remove it or clear its transcript.
Locked models
Models above your plan tier show a lock icon in the dropdown. Click one to see the upgrade options.
Saving your comparison
Side by side keeps your panel layout, settings, and transcripts in your browser, so refreshing the page preserves the session. Click Start over to reset everything for the current agent.
